They’re cheap! Buying the latest gel or cream can really start to add up for a while. The biggest problem with gels and creams is that they obviously don’t work the same for everyone so if you buy one that doesn’t work, you’ve just lost a lot of money. With homemade acne treatments, you won’t have that problem. If one doesn’t work, you’re only out a few dollars. For the cost of one typical gel or cream system, you can try out 5-10 homemade acne treatments.
Homemade acne treatments are also very effective. There are all kinds of treatments, from using lemon juice to putting egg yolks on your face. You’d be amazed at what people have tried and what works! My personal favorite regimen was to use baking soda for acne some days and to use the oil cleansing method other days.
The last reason homemade acne treatments work so well is because they’re gentle. One of the other big problems with gels and creams is that they irritate your skin after using them for a while. My old favorite was benzoyl peroxide, I’m sure most people are aware of BP. It worked ok for a time, but then my skin used to look so dull and eventually it would cause me to break out even more. And let’s not forget the amount of shirts and sweaters that had to be thrown out because the BP bleached them! man that got frustrating after a while.
